We do not sell personal information, and we do not use or disclose it for targeted advertising (also called cross-context behavioral advertising).
How we share information
We share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers. Companies that perform services on our behalf, under contracts that limit how they can use the information. These include our website host (WordPress.com, operated by Automattic Inc.), our analytics provider (Google Analytics, operated by Google LLC), our email service (Kit), and the file storage and workspace tools we use to manage editorial work (Google Workspace and Notion).
- Within telos. ttj is owned by telos. Personal information may be available to telos staff who support ttj’s operations, and is handled consistently with this policy. How we keep editorial decisions independent is explained on our independence page (/independence/).

Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential. To make the Site work, keep it secure, and remember basic settings.
- Analytics. To count visits and understand which content readers find useful. We use the statistics tools built into WordPress.com and Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the site that referred you, and reports it to us as aggregated statistics. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Email. To understand whether our newsletter is delivered and opened, and which links readers click.
We do not use advertising cookies or allow advertising networks to track visitors on the Site.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the Site may not work properly. There is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, so the Site does not respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals, as described on our Do Not Sell or Share page (/do-not-sell/).
Email communications
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting us. We will process your request promptly. Even after you unsubscribe, we may still send you messages related to a pitch, contribution, or request you have made.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. In general:
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. We may keep a minimal record of your email address afterward so that we honor your request not to be emailed.
- Pitches, submissions, and correspondence: for up to two years after our last contact with you, unless the material becomes part of a published piece.
- Published content: as part of our archive, for as long as the piece remains published.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
