ttj welcomes essays and papers from practitioners, researchers and operators with an argument to make or a finding to share. We look for work grounded in experience or research that deepens our understanding of how consequential decisions are made in complex systems. Send an idea or a finished piece; prior publishing experience is not required.

Most essays run 1,000 to 2,000 words. All published work is signed, edited and fact-checked with its author. Read our editorial standards before submitting. We welcome relevant examples from contributors’ own work and organizations. We do not publish articles whose primary purpose is to promote a company, product or service.

Where AI was used, a brief disclosure appears with the byline. For example: “AI tools assisted with research and copy editing.”
